Metapost: Answers to the Ten Questions

Over at www.whydoesgodhateamputees.com they created a list of Ten Questions Every Christian Must Answer. Why should every Christian answer these questions? Asking fine points of theology to the average believer is like demanding a thorough explanation of the physics of the Big Bang from the average atheist. Both will succeed equally well, but the Christian is denied the ability to appeal to authority. If the Christian cannot answer, they are confronted with the author's conclusions that, "God is imaginary," "People who believe in imaginary things are delusional," and that "Your religious beliefs hurt you personally and hurt us as a species because they are delusional." If the atheist cannot answer, "Science has proven..." ends the argument. The lack of ability to provide answers does not for that reason prove that God is imaginary. If there are answers, then God may be real. If he may be real, then people who believe in him are not for that reason delusional. What is delusional, however, is attempting to violate the rules of logic by attempting to prove negative.

Here are links to all my answers:

1. Why won't god heal amputees?
2. Why are there so many starving people in the world?
3. Why does God demand the death of so many innocent people in the Bible?
4. Why does the Bible contain so much anti-scientific nonsense?
5. Why is God such a huge proponent of slavery in the Bible?
6. Why do bad things happen to good people?
7. Why didn't any of Jesus' miracles in the Bible leave behind any evidence?
8. How do we explain the fact that Jesus has never appeared to you?
9. Why would Jesus want you to eat his body and drink his blood?
10. Why do Christians get divorced at the same rate as non-Christians?

I believe that we fall into a trap when we attempt to answer such questions with logic and reason.

As a person with a scientific, mathematics, and engineering background, I have found it futile to attempt to apply reason to faith. Faith is given by God, and only by God; and
man is not capable of
defining, understanding, or explaining.

But as 1 Peter 3:15 says, "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." Two of my coworkers, one an atheist, one an agnostic, both stopped believing as children when they were given the answer, "It's just something you have to believe." I think we err when we demand belief when there are answers. Christianity requires faith, but that faith is not blind, rather it provides a greater understanding than one without faith could achieve: Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."

As a person with a scientific, mathematics, and engineering background, I have found it futile to attempt to apply reason to faith. Faith is given by God, and only by God; and

This is correct, but it overreaches. If God is a God of truth, then Christians have nothing to fear from reason. Reason will only contradict faith when reason is in error. As Romans 3:4 says, "Let God be true and every man a liar." It is the surrender of reason to the unbelievers that has led the church into its current position. As John 3:12 "I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?" What good is a metaphysical faith?

To Octavo Dia,

If you already have answered the 50 questions/supposed proofs that God is imaginary @(GodIsImaginary.com)

Would you please tell me where I can read them. I thank you again.

The Christian faith is based on historical and present facts, NOT on fiction like Darwinian evolution. If people take the time to do some research on this subject. Which IS the MOST important of your life....Does God exist?? They will find out that God as described in the Bible does exist. The importance of this issue is just too high to ignore!!! I'm finding the following books very helpful, read them and you'll see that the "proofs" @ GodIsImaginary.com are just a clear example of Romans 1 verses 19-32. Men & women who choose to think this way have made up their minds NOT to believe in God. Not because there is NO evidence for God, but because God is too much of an "inconvenience" to those that choose to live in sin and away from God. God has provided a way(Jesus Christ) for men to be saved. God loves you more than anybody in this world. But God does have "TERMS" just like any other "Real" person. You need to find out. Read the Bible New Testament first. These Books will also help you: The face/Hank Hanegraaff, The Case For Christ & The Creator/Lee Strobel, Defeating Darwinism/Phillip E. Johson, Reason to Believe/R.C. Sproul, When Critics Ask & When Skeptics Ask/Geisler,Know Why You Belive/Paul Littel, Who Moved the Stone/Frank Morison, Jesus Christ Super-Nut? or Super-Natural/Gene Scott,Reasonable Faith/William Lane Craigh, Icons of Evolution/Jonathan Wells, Why I am a Christian/Geisler,101 Reason You Can Believe/Ralph O. Muncaster,20 Compelling Evidences that God Exist/Kenneth D.Boa,Video Journey Toward Creation/Hugh Ross.

God gave you a powerful brain. Use it.
