Zing

I appreciated this zinger from a Answers in Genesis response to some of their fan mail.

"But religion has zero effect on a person's integrity, morality or ethics and can, in fact, more easily justify wrong from necessity as a good thing.

Paging Mister bin Laden, Mister Torquemada and Mister McVeigh..."

"Strange that you would include Torquemada, the instigator of the Inquisition, who would have had us killed, since Protestant Christians were among his victims."

I don't get the irony. Say you're arguing with some Israeli and say "you're going to give more power to Sharon? Paging Adolf Hitler..." is he going to say, "Ironic you mention Hitler, he would have had me killed"? That's exactly the point the letter writer was trying to make.

(I think that particular fan mail page should be titled "Poorly Argued Flame Wars from Genesis." It could be from a comments thread anywhere.)

Or more precisely, it would be like, "You're advocating more free market reforms? Paging Karl Marx!" The advocacy and methods of AIG are precisely opposite of that for which he stood.
