Book Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Rowling, J.K.  Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.  Amazon.com.

Yes, I finally got around to reading it.  Given the hype, I was expecting it to be Lord of the Rings quality, but, this book at least, is more Hobbit-level writing.  I'm not saying it's bad, and I'll read the rest of them as I have vacations, but it isn't what I was expecting.

I read three or four of them and have virtually no memories whatsoever. They're altogether unexciting. You should totally read Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality instead. (This is a different chapter than the one I put on the kovacinycom.)

p.s. The thing about the Harry Potter series was that everyone was reading it together, so you have already missed out on the specialness.

p.p.s. Don't read the omake ("non-canon") chapter.

Given that I read it in an afternoon, I wouldn't have shared the "reading it together" for very long! :-)
